Person-Centred Therapy: A Contemporary Introduction

As a featured post-conference event of the Conference, we are honoured to present this full-day interactive workshop led by our distinguished Keynote Speaker, Prof. Mick Cooper.

This workshop provides counselling psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists – both trainees and in practice – with a contemporary introduction to Carl Rogers’ person-centred theory and practice.

Following his keynote address, Prof. Cooper will introduce participants to Rogers’ theory of development and personality, and his understanding of how psychological difficulties can emerge. From that foundation, the workshop will explore the core tenets of person-centred practice – empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence – and demonstrate their practical application in clinical work.

The workshop takes a contemporary perspective on person-centred therapy: discussing recent developments in the field and presenting current evidence-informed research. Along with theoretical input, the session will involve self-reflective exercises and practice videos.

This workshop is ideally suited to trainees and practitioners who would like to familiarise themselves with the basics of person-centred therapy, or who would like a refresher on the approach as it currently stands.
